R.I.P.: Richard Hamann, Founder of the Famous Tuning Firm Dies at Age 53


The founder of the well-known tuning firm Hamann Motorsport and racecar driver, Richard Hamann, passed away last week at the age of 53 after a long battle with a severe illness. The tuning company that bears his name issued this statement:

“Richard Hamann passed away after a severe illness. Owing him deep respect and gratitude, his untimely death is an enormous loss for us. The team of HAMANN Motorsport will always honour his memory and continues to run the business according to his wishes. Aside from founding Hamann Motorsports, Richard Hamann was also an avid race car driver for over 20 years having taking part in more than 700 races in his career.

  • more than 20 years active in motor sports
  • more than 700 races, 300 times finishing among the top three
  • 103 victories
  • 3-times victory of Special Touring Car Trophy with BMW M1
  • Commitments in Gruppe C
  • Commitments in DTM
  • Commitments in Formula 3
